How Streetwhacks Generates Market Indicators
Streetwhacks turns live NSE and BSE market data into readable indicators through a documented pipeline: data → processing → indicators → classification → display. This page explains each stage, what our tools can and cannot do, and how AI-generated analysis fits in.
Last updated: August 2026 · Reviewed quarterly · STREETWHACKS PRIVATE LIMITED, India
1. Market data sources
Our inputs are live exchange feeds covering NSE and BSE equities: last traded price, bid/ask quotes, traded quantity and value, day open/high/low/close, and corporate-action-adjusted histories. Index inputs cover Nifty 50, Bank Nifty, Sensex and 30+ sectoral indices. Data flows continuously during Indian market hours (09:15–15:30 IST); outside hours the platform serves the last complete session state, clearly timestamped.
2. Price and volume processing
Raw prints are cleaned and normalised before any indicator sees them:
- Corporate-action adjustment for splits, bonuses and dividends so historical comparisons stay valid.
- Outlier filtering to suppress erroneous ticks without hiding genuine volatility.
- Session baselines — volume and range statistics are computed per symbol against its own recent behaviour, so a spike means something different for RELIANCE than for a small-cap.
3. Trend detection
Directional assessment combines price trajectory, momentum persistence and volume support:
- Sustained one-way movement with volume ranks far above single-candle spikes.
- Mixed or contradictory readings produce no signal rather than a weak one.
- Each signal carries a freshness state — developing signals are highlighted; cooled signals fade to context.
4. Momentum measurement
Momentum scores summarise how strongly pressure favours buyers or sellers right now, separately from direction. A stock can show bullish direction with weak momentum (treat with scepticism) or bearish direction with exhausted momentum (watch for reversal) — Index Pulse surfaces this distinction explicitly via its pressure bars.
5. Directional classification
Stocks are classified LONG (bullish alignment), SHORT (bearish alignment/distribution) or unclassified. Classification feeds Market Trend cards and the Directional Trend rankings. Thresholds are deliberately conservative: we would rather show nothing than show noise.
6. Market Pulse & Index Pulse methodology
- Market Pulse: high-value trade prints (institutional scale, typically ₹1 Cr+) are flagged live; day highs/lows track the session range; volume spikes compare against per-symbol intraday baselines. Confluence of size + extremes + spikes is the meaningful unit, not any single print.
- Index Pulse: short, medium and longer intraday timeframes are scored for directional agreement; momentum scores and algo-vs-dynamic pressure bars recompute every minute. Aligned timeframes indicate tradable regime; disagreement warns of chop.
7. AI-generated analysis
Live Insights briefings and Ask Streetwhacks answers are produced by AI models (including Anthropic Claude) that retrieve live platform data into context before writing — responses cite current market state, state confidence levels, and are structured as setup, evidence and invalidation. AI output is analytical assistance: it can be wrong, especially around news shocks and illiquid names.
8. Refresh frequency
- Live screens (Market Trend, Pulse, Index Pulse): continuous to 1-minute cadence in market hours.
- Insights briefings: every minute; quiet markets yield fewer briefings, never filler.
- Reference content (this page, guides): reviewed monthly or quarterly, with visible update dates.
9. Known limitations
- Indicators describe momentum and structure, not value — an overvalued stock can stay LONG, and cheap stocks can stay SHORT.
- Executions, liquidity shocks and news gaps can invalidate any reading within minutes.
- Cap-weighted views overweight index giants; small-cap leadership can hide beneath them.
- Backtested or historical performance shown anywhere on the platform does not predict future results.
10. How Streetwhacks does NOT generate personalised advice
Nothing on the platform assesses your finances, goals, risk tolerance or portfolio. Signals, scores, briefings and AI answers are the same for every user viewing the same market state — they are market analytics, not personal recommendations. Position sizing, suitability and execution decisions are entirely yours, and for personalised guidance you should consult a SEBI-registered investment adviser. Our full position is in the disclaimer, with data handling in the privacy policy.
11. Who builds and reviews this
Streetwhacks is built and operated by STREETWHACKS PRIVATE LIMITED, India. Indicator logic is designed and reviewed by the Streetwhacks markets and engineering team; reference content is reviewed on a monthly/quarterly cycle with the review date shown at the top of each page. Methodology FAQs
Where does Streetwhacks get its market data?
Live NSE and BSE feeds (price, quotes, volume, day ranges) plus Nifty 50, Bank Nifty, Sensex and sectoral-index inputs, flowing continuously during Indian market hours (09:15–15:30 IST).
How are LONG and SHORT signals decided?
By alignment of price trajectory, momentum persistence and volume support. Bullish alignment produces LONG, bearish alignment produces SHORT, and mixed readings produce no signal rather than a weak one.
Is the AI analysis based on live data?
Yes. Live Insights and Ask Streetwhacks retrieve current platform data into context before generating answers, which is why responses cite market state and confidence levels instead of generic text.
Does Streetwhacks give personalised investment advice?
No. All users see the same analytics for the same market state. The platform does not assess individual finances or goals. Consult a SEBI-registered investment adviser for personalised advice.
How often is this methodology reviewed?
Indicator logic is under continuous review by the Streetwhacks team; this document is reviewed quarterly with the review date shown above. Material changes are reflected here.
